no mate i mean that the 2 and 3 (inside) bores/chambers look much cleaner than 1 and 4 (outside)

when i had problems it was pressurizing the coolant and as a result it cleaned the leaky(2 and 3) bores/chambers.

how ever i think its well worth getting some blue transfer die if you have a bow/dip in the block or head or a high spot that is not sealing the gasket fully
how i would use the die is clean the gasket surfaces and with a small foam paint roller roll the block or head but only one of them.. with die then grab the head gently align it on the block give it a small wiggle take the head off and if there is die transferred in only patches then ether the block or head is not flat or something is not clean fully what you want to see is a nice equal amount of die transferred

compression test suggest your rings are fine
as said above its most likely valve stem seals.. so i would replace them also check the valves for side to side movement worn guides will leak oil and flog the seat witch causes a loss in power

I think the oil is coming down the valve guides, I would check this out as you already have the head off,
I have seen this happen before.
I am sure I read somewhere that others have had the stem seals come off also so check/replace them while your at it.

I agree with Joe, them bores look a bit too shiney. It might be the picture though.

How rich has the engine been run for the run in period?

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

phil: yes mate i did run it on synthetic up until now.(200km in total) should i switch over to mineral? or is it to late now?

I'm with Phil

Damage may already have been done. The rings bed in in the first 50km with normal running in procedures.

Take some decent pictures of the bores and post them up. wipe them clean first *wink*

hi guys...

oh i see what you mean turbo this.

will take a look at that jawd*wink*

sprocket when you say how rich, do you mean the mixture? im runing std needle ant spring at 4 psi at moment

i went out and got some pictures of the bores, these are the best i could get. as the lighting in my garage isn't the best. i checked the bores over with a tourch and they have consistent hone marks on both bores. so i dont think thats the problem. but you be the judge: i have also pored about 2cm of oil in each bore to see how long it take for it to go down, if it goes down at all. what woudl be a good result for this?
