Pictures work (if a little small) *wink*

If i can ask though - why is the tank that high up? Can't it go any lower?
(thinking CofG)...

if you click on them they get bigger i think..

its a bit of an optical illusion LOL!
i positioned the tank as low is it can go, its hard to tell from the pics, but its a good 2 - 3" below the existing boot floor level (in the enlarged picture you can see the relection in the carbon fibre where its touching).

The fuel pump in the corner of the one pic will not work with a turbo install, just so you know!

ah - you're cleverer than me! Thumbnailed picture links!

I didn't realise the carbon floors had that profile - makes sense though!

If that is a rally car, then you should weld a bar between the top damper mounts. I've seen what happens if you don't.

There goes the weight saving.........

what happens? i didnt think any inward forces would be produced by a damper attached to a bottom arm that pivots front to back...?

still waiting for an answer V :)

also, does anyone know how much do superfins save over std drums?
(Would it be worth making a weight saving thread as a sticky?)

What happens is that the wheel arches rips away from the boot floor, AND possibly ripping hte damper mount through the wheel arch.

Someone once measured the flex between the damper mounts, and it was alarmingly big. I don't recall who this was at present.

Me neither nic, LOL!

Vegard, Ill have to take that info into consideration, no harm in adding a bit of bracing i guess.

But are you saying that this flex happens all the time or just when the bootfloor is removed?

As I honestly cant see the floor making much difference to the towers flexing...

If you are going to be adding bracing back in what is the point in removing the floor in the first place?

The weight of some box steel or tubing will soon add up!

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

But the tubing would be stronger (more efficent at doing whats required i'm guessing) than the boot floor.
If the boot floor remained you'd probably have both...
Plus by removing the boot floor as has been said, you can have a lower CofG and easier mounting for the tank etc *smiley*

The boot floor act as a stiffener between the damper mounts. It does happen all the time. WHat usually is done, is to have a tube between the towers, and the roll cage fitted on this again. Although this is LOTS of work, it's the best way.
I've heard that it's hard to get soft enough springs for the Mini wth coil overs as well...

thats a point ,what are the usual spring rates for a min on coil overs at the back? i was thinking 110 for rd heavy car ,and bout 70 light rally etc ? oh and joey ,if that tank is full up and has say 60 to 100 lbs of fuel in it ,and you go bouncing around ,id check those top alloy tank brackets cos i think they may fracture off ,just a thuoght good luck with it all regards robert

Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM

I can possibly see a problem with coil overs as 100% of the rear's weight is transferred through the top mounts. Also if the coil overs are using offset top mounts, then there is definately going to be some inward moment.

I found it near on impossible to get the rear springs sorted when I wnet down the coil over route a few years back. I really couldnt recommend them for a car thats going anywhere near roads, IMO they are for track use only.

Im sure someone will put me right tho *wink*

Yeah, good point, I had concerns when buying it, but its a 2nd hand, and no signs of fatigue yet, Id say/hope it'd be ok :)
