Totally... You don't even need a decent laptop - an ancient 486 is more than enough for all ECU's

You are all correct there is not enough room to display all the bins on the Plam, it sort of scrolls. It is very good for tuning on the road as its small and quick changes can be made easily. However you will need a PC to configure all the settings and I prefer the laptop interface for the rolling road.

The thing about the palm is that it can do data logging too which is great in the hillclimber beacuse you don't need the laptop strapped to the floor.

there is palm and pocket pc comming for the emerald ecu shortly. Also with the emerald ecu it has a cf card slot inside, in the future you will be able to log to that.

Jim, have they brought out the latest Emerald ECU yet, i know its been on the cards? Obvouisly dont want to buy the current one to find out that the new one comes out next month with a number of features that i could use.

I like the idea of in gear boost control etc as the speedo setup im hoping to use has calculated gear indicator. hoping to use that to trigger different boost levels in different gears.

It's the same ecu, but with different firmware, so there is no risk, as long as you go for the larger of the two ecu's the K3 is what you want

the unit bought complete comes with the sensor already in place, you just run a pipe from your inlet manifold to the unit

easy peasy

Just a quick question:

How often can you alter the timing with megajolt?

I noticed from the 'screenshot' table on page 1 of this thread that it was every 1000 rpm till 4k then every 500rpm thereafter (or was this relevant just for MAP readings).

The webcon kit can adjust the timing for every 200rpm, not sure if this is necessary or not, but is that possible with the megajolt?

cheers guys

The megajolt has a 10x10 matrix and the megasquirt has a 12x12 matrix. The values you put in are up to you. There are normally points on the ingition map where smaller gaps between MAP and RPM settings will be needed and other places where large gaps can be entered. You will find that a 12x12 matrix is plenty, its 144 bits you need to tune, more that that just gets silly.
