i carnt see anything being racist here.

if a load of pikies or whatever you want to call them moved into your town or whetever, would you be pleased about it?
and i can almost garnte (SP??) that on the last few nights they are there the crime rate (bergulrys) will go up!
my mate has been robbed about 4 times.
every time the pikies or whatever you call them, were gone from where they were staying. coinsident? i dont think so some how.

also why do you think there are so many of them over here?
because Island wont have them there i belive. that came from a Irish mate, who absolutly hates them.

this forum is completely different from any other, mainly because so many of us know each other by face etc.

we went to look at new cars for the girlfiend this weekend, went to the local ford dealership and they didnt have that many cars out or the one she'd seen earlier in the week.

turns out that the travelling people who live in caravans down the road and dont pay tax etc, had thrown over 300 rocks at the forecourt one night for a laugh, denting almost every car and smashing many windscreens etc.

total damage was to about 35 basially new cars...

another thing you'll notice is that on this forum things can actually be discussed civily (in most case! lol!) and the thread doesnt get deleted or locked.

this thread is fairly civil and hopefully stays that way.

Someone came into my garage and lifted a few heads and gearboxes (one of them a well modded 295 head and one an MG head) but hey I'll survive. With Daves Da it's different, he has been robbed 3 times now and even found them in his sheds so that's even worse than stealing! It's theft with a risk to personal safety! Can't remember where I was going with this now... I'm not on for racisim at all but it's hard to be sympatheitc to the traveling comunity. They brought public disfavour upon themselves.

If you replace the word pikey for traveller or gypsy (or whatever the PC name is) then the thread has no racist overtones.

I think the use of the racism card can take the piss sometimes. It also infuriates me that only whites get acused of racism, where in reality blacks amd muslims are as racist to each other as anyone.

It's because these people have had they're property stolen- doesn't sound like a major thing until it happens to you- it's a traumatic experience one way or tother. And what makes it worse is there is NO justice... the police don't do anything, so these people just do it again and again. Now I aint racist, don't care if you're black, white, or purple from the lesser spotted moon of zarg, makes no difference to I. But if you break onto someones property and/or steal they're stuff, you deserve to get all that's coming to you.
Reminds me of that bloke a little while back- a farmer who shot a couple of lads breaking into his house. He'd been burgled and harrassed by the "travelling community" several times before, so he shot them. One of them ended up dying... but only because he was too stupid to go to hosipital and bled out. And the farmer got put away for it. If you ask me, that's injustice (and a good example of the police failing to protect an innocent person to the point where he had to react himself).

I think carl is right, we shouldn't generalize (is that correct English??). It is just a few people that screw things up. I know it is hard to live with this fact, but apparently that's life..

I do feel bad for TurboDave, it's really hard to see that the police can't do anyting, although you have to blame the law for that and not the police.

I have experienced the same thing although "only" once, they (don't know who) stole everyting from my parents' garage, including all my new turbo parts, a completely restored '61 motorcycle (driven 100 miles on it after the restoration...) and even the meat that was in the freezer, so my mum was upset as well. The feeling is terrible and the fact that you can't do anything about it makes things even worse.

Apparently shit happens... In the end my turbo will be up and running (again) with lots of bananas (thanks to BENROSS) in a couple of months, so I will be able to smile again soon. Hope the same goes for you TurboDave!
