I run more power than that, in my ROAD car, on SUL fuel.... go figure...and to make matters worse, I use a feeble supercharger too !!!
.

OK .. so let's have the details .... capacity? Boost? etc

Its just an old Ford Granada....the rest....well, maybe I'll tell you someday...its of little importance though.

But for a little assistance, I'll give my Mini turbo spec, from 1994 ( although did do a head/cam swap around 97 )

fancy 4 star fuel
std pistons with 6mm removed from top :) approx 7.5:1
std rods
std crank
std block bored +0.020"
Modified head
uprated, but very mild cam
1.5 RR rockers.
Modified 1 3/4" turbo carb
R5T IC
T3 turbo, 0.36ex with 4x4 Cossie compressor, running 1.5 bar.
Welded dizzy, around 28deg all the time I think.

Obviously I wouldnt reccomend anyone to do pretty much any of the above today....as it would probably be considered silly. But it worked ok at the time, and was actually very reliable.

Turbo technology has moved on leaps and bounds though, and this is a key area that should be exploited with any build. I wouldnt even consider using a regular T3 these days.

And what is it when, boost increases & the gauge needle
sits on 0 ?

You are measuring boost at a strange point within the system...or you have a faulty guage *wink*

Im surprised nobody has considered using a centrifugal supercharger on a Mini yet....

A small Rotrex unit would probably work extremely well.

What about the Shorrock? Came in 1965?

Unless we are talking about different 'chargers the Shorrock is a vane type compressor not centrifugal at all.

I also think in terms of drive losses...the Rotrex are pretty good ??

Never used one, but they do look like nice little units.

You're absolutely right. It's a vane compressor :)

Outa here fer good ....

you can fuck right off then with that shitty cocky attitude

i dont have the most powerful engine around but ive put my time and hard earned cash into it, why should i share with people who i dont know

talking of people i dont know, you seem to know everything or have the answers to everything, if its that easy then it should not take to much of your time to work out whats needed to build your magical 200bhp engine, again as you seem to know everything then why bother with this forum

Don't feel I am picking holes but Alex's car wasnt on a std supercharger - it had a rotex in place of the std G-lader.

Nope, that's why we were originally directed to this
Mini Turbo forum .. hopefully for constructive,
positive help and advice .. maybe we've come to the wrong
place after-all

We have a special place for negative comments

Interesting point.

Superchargers/Turbos.

I suppose the best way is to get a lower resistance turbo (bigger) and have that blowing through a SC14 supercharger or something like that. You would overdrive it something chronic, so that it gives low down boost and lots of it. When the turbo got up to speed, the dP of the blower would approach 0 or even go slightly negative, getting rid of the cranking losses. So you would have the best of both worlds. Having a rootes blower (for price) which would actually hack the rpms would be the catch.

I've gone N/A again!

Bugger off, I'm getting there.
