Got any close ups of the roof? I'd like to see how well the weave shows through and also what the joint looks like with the metal (both inside and out).

I've never seen one showing the weave and from the grp / non visable weave ones I've seen in the past I am unsure how well it'll work if you can't blend the edges after fitting extra.
You seem to be taking a lot of pride in your work so your car is probably a good one to judge from.

thats a good idea about the mirrors!

the roofs not actually one there yet, its just the origional was painted black!

the weave shows through well in it, the resin is a bit cloudy in places though! it looks worse in this picture than it actually is.

fitment wise all that will be visable from the outside with be a bead of black mastic in the gutter, inside should be mostly hidden by the cage!

Thanks for those pics ..... not sure the roof has been fitted square on that red car, wouldn't be happy with that personally.

Be great to see how yours turns out.

i need your help!

i really cant decide weather to turbo my engine or not, half the people i talk to say do it and the others say dont.

i think it will be more fun as a turbo but may turn out to be quicker on the track being na, but i want to build it to enjoy it.

has anyone on here had experience of highly tuned 16v na and turbo engined cars? any what would people suggest.

thanks

So long there is a progressive rise onto boost, a large usable rev range and reasonable torque off boost turbo'd track cars are great!!!!

Basically you need to match the turbo to the engine spec correctly (early spool, not strangling the higher revs etc. .... takes some calcs and research but far from impossible) and do a quality install.

so would i need to look for at something like the gt17 with VNT?

i think it will add a bit more to the finished car! will certainly scare a few mates that way!

My 16v turbo makes boost before 3000rpm, and revs to 8k, with the same torque at 3500rpm as at 7500rpm it should be a pleasure to drive on the track

Andy, the vnt 17's i have seen seem a bit small, certanly smaller than the saab gt17 which aparently boosts from very low anyway.

I would say just stuff the saab gt17 on, then think about swaping to a vnt once i have got mine working *wink*

I have a saab gt17 in bits you can nab for fabbing if you need it.

If your dead set on a vnt I think a gt20 from the BMW X5 diesel may be a good bet

also i can point you toward a local source for schedule 10 pipe for a manifold if you need it..... although that manifold in a certain other post.....8)8)8)

I would say go NA then turbo later, but really i think you'll end up turboing anyway so you may as well start thinking about getting the comp ratio down*laughing*
