So according to minispares their standard replacement piston cannot be run at standard boost without modification to the engine?

Infact have they finally sorted the problem with these pistons, or is nobody buying them?

There doesn't seem to have been a post about them dropping lands recently.

I'll soon find out if standard Metty Turbo pistons withstand 15psi boost at 40*C, around 180hp. If they do, Minispares pistons are less durable (according to Minispares at least) than the standard factory gear, which as Denis said above, doesnt give any confidence in their product

The standard Turbo pistons should be fine.

Cool!

Phil, do you have a decent set of STD Metty Turbo pistons laying around?

No, I don't think so. Ask APBellamy he was buying the worlds supply of used Turbo pistons a while back.

I've used std mety turbo pistons for my engines, I've never melted a piston or ringland and this on10 psi and std cr.Then the same at 12 and 15 psi on lowered cr

I've dismantled my last year engine, to find an overall very good engine, just a set of bearings/rings,and a new gearbox, which is shot (casing craked) and it will go as it is again.

That give me to the fact that I also use in an other engine a set of minispares pistons , whith 15cc dish that Dave sent to me for years now, and they never failed , even under funny boost.

minispares have to prevent the nutters that turbocharging induce pistons failure when not fully handled regarding cr ignition timing, interccoling, boost .A lot are just pissed by bleeding the WG signal.

i don't understand why people just don't use the 21253's instead of the mega's.

I've been running them for years now with no problems, and i know Nic used to run them aswell.

I don't understand the issue. By all accounts the failed pistons could all be explained by installation faults (i.e. too much boost, advance, no fuel, hot charge etc).

I'm sure these pistons will last (based on my use of Mega pistons) as long as you build a propper engine.

Lol. I bought 3, one had a damaged skirt, and another had a detonation hole in the side. *oh well*

They were std mety pistons, there was NO sign of any little bit of dets on them. (12/15psi ,mg n/a cam, good intercooling (audi s3) , 9.2 C/R, 26 deg total advance, only 98 octane quality fuel).
But I only heared it rattling one time, it was this moment with you.
Pretty sure the cheap tank I 've done in London, is the explanation. It never did it again, even on High boost mode.

Thanks for the welcoming, I'm never that far, but I've bought an audi S4 (biturbo one)last year . It have lightly turned my head of the mini! It' s an AWESOME machine!
