i also like the way that bits of thin steel have been removed to make it lighter, then he has welded in all those bloody great scaffold poles!

ryan, the cage is made from t45, a bit lighter than scaffolding poles!!!

Mark I'll be there mate!! I will start putting it back together on the weekend.

The Shell ws red, then green, I bought it, then painted it with lots of primer then yellow, now it's mainly bare metal, and going yellow again, we worked out, the paint on the car weighed over 2.5 stones!!!

note Nobbies use of words jim...

how long did it take YOU do do it ALL

I seem to recall Jim used it as a demonstration to show Gandalf the Great how to build a proper car...

Grey, drop him an email.

it's taken 6 months of work, Gandalf does all the welding on the cage, and all the hard stuff, I do the donkey work!

I've got a bit more work done,
Solid mounted the rear subframe,

got rear brakes and arms on

started to build up the front subframe

pedal box, shelf etc

dummy fitted dash

Mounted ecu, and some sensors

I was planning to get it all together and painted this weekend, but I have been called away with work short notice,

Jimster, did you ever weight the carbon parts? I am thinking of buying the flip front, bonnet and doors from Curley. A weight comparison info would be great!

Harry, I didn't weight the doors, but cant remeber what they where, I wrote it down somewhere I'll have a look for it.

All of my parts are from curley, but it's not "proper" carbon fibre, it's on;y wet laid, so is just as heavy as grp, just a little stronger, but not much

Would be great if you still had the weight data! My Countryman weight shocked me: 770kg with 3/4 tank full. Now the car is on "diet".
