So; with 14 hours to go until the first practice of the 2009 season, what are everyone's thoughts?

We have Mclaren who seem to be down on speed, but have the skills to improve as the season goes.
Ferrari seem to be doing OK, but not up at the top of the timesheets yet.
Brawn seem to be doing bloody well, but it's likely if they are good this weekend, their rear diffuser will be banned, and they'll drop back.
BMW/Renault seem to be doing well, and likely to be at the front at the weekend - neither have the clever diffusers either.
Red Bull / Torro Roso are the same as ever - random.
And the rest are mid-pack as normal.

So, what's going to happen? Anyone willing to bet a 1-2-3 for the weekend, or how many finishers? (Last year just seven cars finished the first race, don't forget!)

How exciting. See you at 1:25AM tonight for First Practice (On 'Press Red' on BBC, or on the BBC-F1 Website)

-a.

i'll be pressing record!!

i have no idea who will win this race, i have evrything crossed that it will be Jenson, but my head says one of the Ferarri's.

one thing i will place money on, is a multiple car pile-up on the first bend. Everyone will be a little bit rusty, and the front wings stick out slightly further then the wheels!

didn't realise it was a 7am start for us on sunday, thats not too bad. The clocks going forward might not help the situation though!

I wanted to stay up, but I have to go to london for a meeting tomorrow, and I really need to be in top shape for it. I'll record it though.

I put £20 on Button winning the championship. I got 20:1 on it at the time, you won't get that now!

Mclaren won't be as far behind as everyone things is my bet. Not convinced the Red Bull is any good either.

Well that's one correct decision made by the stewards this year, long may it continue.

I agree entirely but don't count on it lasting - if the teams with the legal diffuser but "debatable" rear body sections win (and especially if it's Brawn) you can count on Bernie and Max "clarifying" the rules....

the big boys have been caught with their pants down... Brawn is an old fox... didnt even bring a backup if they said no...
however it cant last for long if Brawn has managed to squeeze that Merc in the back with some quick re-designing, I'm sure the rest for the field will have a good look that the back of the car and get something sorted pronto... plus the Brawn GP team must be in shape for this 30m budget crap a new era?

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

But if you believe the Press (debatable, I know...) Red Bull can't copy it because of their different suspension design.

So the rest may just sulk for a couple of races until their copy works, but if Red Bull can't copy it...... *frown* bring in Bernie and Max to "level the field".....

mm that pull rod suspension idea.. shame it might bite them in the backside.

It has been quoted that Brawn Gp have up to 0.5 of a second advantage? seems high, still got to get to the flag....

i think you'll find the other teams are seriously pissed off, because the fia told them over a year ago that it was illegal to do it!

If you look at it, the fia have let the 3 most "at risk" teams get away with it!

coincidence? i fear not.

This is FORD country, on a quiet day you can hear Vauxhalls rusting.

I'll risk it....here it goes...
1st Kimi R
2nd Massa
3rd A brawn car....I'm going for Rubens.

Its all too close to call!

stowmaket suffolk

nic just go to bbc f1 site and you get live streaming of the practice, just watched it.

looks like as its a late start for them over there for sat and sunday track temp will fall away quickly during the gp.

as it will start about 1700 there time so lap times will increase instaed of decrease.

have a look at the pract6ice times, its nice to see lesser teams at the top half.

bring it on and come on jenson and rubins

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

Anyone seen the news that Branson will be sponsoring Brawn, announcement possibly Saturday. Very shrewd!
