Right peeps, Had the engine to bits and thrusts look fucked, See Pic.
My Mains and Big End looks ok tbh. My oil pickup pipe was coated in a thick layer of silver paint that (jj minis) who ever they are must have painted the inside of the box with. So its flaked off into the box and collected btw most of it had fallen off by the time i took the pic. The pickup hole between the box and engine as also half block by a layer of silicon sealant. Ill be putting a very thin layer on when it goes back together! Lesson Learnt. Sorry about the shitty pics.

well that seems pretty conclusive to me,

as you say the bearings dont look bad, thrusts look like they are shagged.

for the price of it i'd just replace all the bearings anyway.

got any picks of the crank? especially the thrust face, thats going to be the bit thats knackered if anything.

give everything a good clean with thinners to get rid of the rest of that paint.

also check the oil pump and relif valve, oil cooler and oil filter housing for painty debris. is the bypass on the filter housing blanked off?

No it didnt have a bypass, it was a mocal remote oil filter housing see. Crank looks spot on, no signs of fatigue AT ALL :)

Think i might replace them all like you said. Ive had the oil pump off but havent inspected it.

What should i be looking for??

You can check the tolerance of the oil pump with a feeler blade. Look for scoring inside & any pitting on the rotor itself.

OKey doke, would the thrusts being in this condition have caused my revs to dip in this way?

When the thrusts on my first engine went the engine revs were dropping when the clutch was pressed in.

ok, the mocal housing is good, if it were a std one then crap could have got through to the gallerys,

as the lump is new just check for scoring in the pump due to debris.

the thrust face should be dead smooth, and flat, drag your finger nail across it and see if its smooth.

Mike, the top of the mains cap looks like it has some serious fretting on the mount face, , is this the case or just a dodgy picture,

those thrusts would cause the problem with engine revs dropping, they have seized,

and i told you you had a blocked up pickup, lol

Right chappaties, after visiting Dr Austin this sunday my block is ready for a good clean and rebuild. Carl very kindly sorted out an oil feed for my thrusts and also drilled and tapped my oil galleries. I think my favours outways his favours now lol.

Heres some piccies.

And lastly a massive thanks to carl for sorting out my crank and spending the time to help me, i seriously thought he would die whist the crank was spinning around in the laithe but he new what he was doing!
