We hung about till dinnertime, but with a 3 hr drive ahead, and Dave Hollis spouting bollocks on the tannoy, we decided to get on our way.

So its not just me that finds dave Hollis a tad irritating

The thing that annoys me is that if he took a bit of effort and went to speak to people on Friday/Saturday, he could make the commentary much more interesting, instead all you get is "Oh what a lovely classic Mini" and then "OOOOOO STUART MEADS OOOOO GOING TO CUM IN MY PANTS"

The Stuart meads appreciation show got very boring, very quickly. It was my first ever Avon park , and if someone had told me how bad the commentary was, I wouldn't have believed them.

It is annoying because there is so much more going on. Class D being hotly contested into the 12 second region. Robert with his newly lightened car pushing well into the 13's. The DON running an 11 for the first time.
Those are just a few examples from many more on just TM. So if you look at some of the other classes and other groups, there is so much more to talk about. OK Stuart Meads is impressive with the times, but there are also a lot of other interesting things to be looking at.

I found it really funny in 2008 after all the pissing around on the line Stewart Meads team did to get the car lined up for the burn out, the then guided roll back to the christmas tree, when Nathan Dobson, roled up, burned out and subequently broke the 10 seconds without any pissing about

just a quick question, what sort of 60ft times are considered good?
my 1st run was stupid with way too much air in the tyres, pretty much sat there for what seemed like a year

On road tyres, anything from about 2.3 down to 2.0 is good to very good.

On slicks I pulled a 1.79 which I was very pleased with.

2.5 was my best but only running on yoko 008's which feel crap when i used 32's last time
my 1st run was over 3 seconds which is verging on retarded

1.5 is very good but not got that kinda power :p still only naturaly asperated on roadies

this is mine from last year. 2.14 on 032's but open diff and apparently a headwind as times were down on what people had achieved the weekend before (not that the 60ft would change much!)
Low terminal due to running out of rpm running a 3.9

My 11.8 was

60ft 1.998
1/8 7.81 @ 97.99
1/4 11.80 @ 123.65

My 11.96 (on fuel only) was

60ft 1.792
1/8 7.679 @ 91.8
1/4 11.965 @ 113.79

Put these together and a 11.6 is certainly in the car I reckon.

I dont really think it mattered with the wheels spinning as much as they were!

Plus i had a dog box with a long first gear so probably getting towards a ratio of a normal SC. I'm not sure though.

Also i think a lot have found that a longer ratio gave better 60ft times, i remember talk of people starting in second gear. Something i wanted to try but never got round to.
