Piece o crp scanner been taking it's time. Here we go!

My first mini! Incidentally, If you see this piece of shit anywhere around Leeds, be sure to drive into it and finish it off for good. If you know of the wherabouts of the mini though, i'd love to know*laughing*

My turbo build in progress - just back from the sprayers. Had it assembled in 6 weeks from that picture - it was one of the 'drought' summers i recall - hence glorious sunshine all day long, perfect for working on cars!

First ever turbo engine - had around 100 miles on it. Note it didn't even have a dumpvalve. Had run out of money!!! Never actually drove the car with anything other than a turbo engine.

First crash - 13days after the MOT! Some joey on a mobile phone drove straight of a side-road and into my door! Luckilly, A&B pillars were unharmed. Pushed me into a parked BMW though...
Garage couldn't match the colour, so we went for a full respray with white roof!

First manifold to try out the T2. Going off where the pic was taken, this must've been taken in mid '98. Manifold lasted around 200 miles before cracking and blowing.

Can't not post this one as Mark posted his cossie!
Without question, my favourite car I've ever owned. Absolutely loved it, but was a little difficult to keep in the juice aged 21 and as a daily driver!

ps - still running the same air filter!!! It's small, but there is no measurable power difference with or without it!

Now there is a thought...
In two years time I can inport a 1982 vitesse...

Or, should I manage to locate one, I could import a 1980 or older SD1 with all vitesse mechanicals, trim, paint, electrics, etc... *wink*

Anyone know who can stamp up chasis plates for late 70's rovers..... LOL!

Got the airfilter from Avonbar in '97.
Was very unimpressed when I opened the box and this little thing that looked more like a breather filter than an air filter fell out. Avonbar said it was good for 150hp.
I found out last year from K&N it was good for nearer 210 on a turbo engine. The very helpfull guys i spoke to at K&N did say it's not like it'd severely strangle your power after that however - more likely it'd only see a 1-2hp drop when used at 250hp levels in a turbo application.
They did agree this is all assuming the filter is cleaned regularly though!!!

You not been into turbo minis/metro's long Ben? That is the 'pukka' Rover air intake hose that in '97 I could purchase from my Rover dealer for ?25 with the discount he gave me! It was great stuff- really flexible and light - although did chafe through if allowed to touch anything! I don't think it's available anymore? It was somet like ?45 last time I saw it at Avonbar!!!

Think i had the same filter as well. Was only about ?15, i though it might be to small, so changed for a larger one. It was then donated to a mates Fiesta and did a few years service on that.

Rich - Is that your same car (shell) as the 16v one?

You must've had that a few years?

Dave, yep same shell, it had one major rebuild in the time I've had it, due to rust. The repaired bits and the few original bits have all rusted now, hence the re-shell :)
Bought it in Oct 91, from Kendal.
