Paul R, no its not a 1 series small turbo

Paul S, something to look at when i go back, was going to reduce midrange power to produce smoother excelleration

16V project underway

Robert - it is modern by my standards *happy*

Tim - so you are using the fully sequential setup with injection timing?

unless its been converted to tat dyno software , in which case we would have a proper graph not a list of numbers , its going to be a eddy current braked dyno . so not inertia .

( no doubt it will later turn out to be a dynocom !*wink*)

It's all Carls fault, the wheels are too light *happy*

Seriously, these modern dynos work out the power from the acceleration of a mass of the rollers and the car. They assume that the wheels of a 200hp car are much heavier and have a higher polar moment of inertia than 10" split rims. Just an opinion.

.

This was definately the issue with the RR at Smart. The calculation based on the acceleration of a fixed mas must have some massive assumptions in it, which work for the large american V8 guys, but not us.

I plan for my current engine to be run on a dyno rather than a RR. So you get rid of any losses at the wheels causing issues, but of course, you introduce other variations that don't replicate the installation.

I remember speaking to the Polstar guy several years ago, he was definately running a sequential type system with a cam sensor.

Just throw in some NOS to smooth out the 3.5-4.5K dip *wink*

How stable is your boost during the run? Would be interesting to do a run with the boost turned down a bit to see whether the torque dip remains or is caused by clutch slip / wheel slip.

*Edit. My comment towards the plug colour*

That is only really showing you the idle and mid range fueling. Full load fueling indicator is right at the bottom of the insulator

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

On the dyno issue, my simple take is that if an engine can still accelerate on the dyno, then it is not fully loaded. It still has spare power to accelerate and that has to be calculated by taking inertia into account. Doesn't matter what type of load is applied.

I agree , on mine steady state was 92 and inertia was 97 with a .1.3 astra . but one can slow down the accel rate to get a very comparable level , and the rr hardware with thr sun ram 12 should (according to my electronics research chap, after he did extensive examination of the circuit diags ) ,if correctly calibrated create the same reading whatever ..don't ask me how it works LOL.. something to do with a timer chip and stuff.

re the dynocom dyno , I discovered it was just adding 20 bhp on the plot top to bottom , I got into a big discussion with dynocom high command and they admitted it had a software setting for lorries and needed new software , I also found out ti was using the wrong inertia setting too . I think chris smart waited ages for them to sort it then I lost touch . it was a bit like wading through treacle .

Looks like your getting on well Tim, are you tuning it your self? Tuning it your self takes ages, I've had my home made injection kit now for a few years and i'm still playing with it.

Yes you might be the first mini to get 300 bhp lol

Hi Matt, yes injection is a bit of a nightmare, have done a basic map, just need to keep messing with the cold start setting and smoothing out mid range power, will keep me busy i suppose.

oil cooling is priority at the mo
