just thought i'd check this setup is ok as it is slightly different to diddy's setup and i my bleedvalve is the 3 legged type, do 2 way bleed valves have literally 2 legs on them as some of the ones i've seen have 2 legs and a hole, this i assume is actually a 3 legged type for under bonnet use.

thats exactly as mine is, use a 2 legged one if you dont want to run a solenoid, or are willing to plumb it in a bit different

Does that mean then if i use that diagram above that with the switch off that the boost will just be whatever the actuators set at, then when you flick the switch it'll run at whatever the bleed valves set it to?

Anyone know how i'd go about setting my boost at say 8psi then upping to 15psi when you flick the switch? I've got a few of the standard boost solenoids knocking around and have a 3 leg in car bleed valve fitted, but i'm runinng a stock actuator. Would like to sort something out as cheaply and easily as possible really in time for avon.

Yup, with the solenoid closed you would be using actuator pressure.

In order to have 2 levels above actuator pressure you would need two bleed valves or mbc's I beleive, and a solenoid to operate them

Might be worth seing how much the metro solenoid will bleed off when its just left on......

And then use your bleed valve to set the upper pressure

Or you could just buy a sexy boost controller like mine *tongue*

i don't think you'd need two bleed valves as you could just open the one shown above halfway and this would therefore give more boost when the solenoid is opened (via the switch), however when the solenoid is closed and the bleed valve is still open the lower boost would just be what the actuator is set at.

If you wanted to get really fancy, you could get a solenoid operated idle air control valve (Ford?) and feed it with a pwm current.

That way you'd have very fine control over the amount of 'bleed' and could set several stages of boost off the one solenoid, by just varying the pulse widths.
