right just wondering what the general thought is on this as i would think that it would/could be quite dangerous, be it better then a blown up engine.

i know that rev limiters used on our cars would be spark cut which means fuel is still being pumped in and at the rev limiting time quite a bit, soon as it comes off the limiter it will ignite all the unburnt fuel which is in the turbo and exhaust, could this cause your turbo to explode and you exahust

is there any other way or doing this on our carbed cars

Well cutting the fuel off wouldn't do any good as the bowl is full. Ignition cutoff is really the only way to go. Some cutoffs alternate the firing of the cylinders for just this reason MSD calls it the soft cut off. I would recommend that as the best solution. Alternating the cutoff reduces the volume of unburnt fuel pumping through the engine. It also reduces the chance of a plug fouling with fuel in some applications. I like rev limiters, If you have a need put one on.

Rev limiters can be a useful bit of kit, but the most effective rev limiter is your right foot.

The most likely way of damaging an engine by over-revving is when you accidentally "buzz" the engine e.g. change down a gear too early, or change down and get the wrong gear.
Any rev limiter be it fuel cut or ign cut won't stop this from happening!
