the block in my shite old metro engine is scored across the head face between 2 and 3 cylinders. this is due to the head gasket gone for a while i guess. anyway, it keeps blowing gaskets as you would expect, so would jb weld or something similar be ok as a TEMPORARY measure, just to keep it going til the new engine is built? btw its not turbo, just a shitty old intergalactic milage one

I don't like the sound of JB weld personally. But - if you're desperate.....
Why not try it as a 'science experiment' ??? At least that sounds like you're doing it for a good reason, rather than being a yeehaw.

ok dave ill put my cowboy hat on and give it a go. all in the name of science of course. it really isnt worth stripping the engine and skimming or replacing the block tho.

Don't forget to take a few pictures as you're doing it. complete with white coat and safety glasses...

I hear of someone puting in a "shim" between no's 3&4 because the block was slightly burnt, perhaps this might work for you?

Yehaaaa!

try this one, glue a straight peice of 15amp fuse wire or 30 amp if its so bad between the crack overlapping by 1" both sides replace a new gasket and torque down

this will get you away

the JB weld wont last in my opinion. but the fuse wire might! either way its a total bodge but would be interesting to find out the results.

maybe you should try one till it fails and log the mileage covered, then try the other method and compare results.

alternativly you could try welding the gap and grinding it back with a grinder, just not too sure how accurate this could be done!

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
