ARGHHHH

Seems like something doesnt want me to get to Avon, eh?

Just started doing up the wheel nut, got to finger tight, did one turn with a wheel brace, not even tight, and woop, twists off in my hand :(

Gay.

So, where can i get one from (like, now?) and how do you replace them?

Cheers

al.

Front or back?

They are fitted by pulling them into a taper on the disc, or into the hub for drum brakes.

For now, get a hammer and punch and drive the broken bit towards the centre of the car to remove it. On the front it should pop out and fall on the floor, on the back you will need to remove the brake drum to get the bit out.

I've got a bag-full of all different types if you get stuck. They are always in my toolbox at events.

I always torque them to the book 63 NM after a spate of bust studs. It dosent seem tight for a wheel when you dio it though.

take off wheel

take off disk

hammer out old stud

hammer in new stud

refitting is the reversal of removal!

if its for the front, just take the wheel off, knock the old stud out with a hammer (with the broken stud at the rear of the flange, closest to the rear wheel, to avoid hitting the caliper)and stick the new stud in, so you can feel it hits the splines square, then I just put an old bolt on and screw it in without having the wheel on.

Yes, I am sure you can do this without removing the disc from the car.

When you have got the new stud poked through, I usually use a nice big socket, a washer, and a wheel nut to draw the new stud into place.

got that all in. I think my wheel bearing is totally fucked on the pass side, which is why its making crashing noises. if you hit the top of the wheel when the car is on the ground like normal, it goes CHINK.
same happens if you wobble the wheel

:( this fucking car!!!!
