my mini desperately needs a new front end due to the dredded tinworm, originally i wanted to get new panels welded on etc..but now i'm seriously thinking about a flip/removeable front, although i still want a seperate bonnet.

i'm still undecided about wether to go for fibreglass or carbon??? any opinions...

and any recommendations of where to get them from?

all opinions will be appreciated as i'm really unsure what to do!

I'd go fibre glass for few reason easy to fix does get the same shine somehow as metal but doesn't rust which is the best thing ligther so weight less is always a bonus but can be bad if not primed well due to stone chips but if i was spenting my money fibre glass

go for fibreglass, theres no advantage for the carbon ones that are availble, (i only have one as it was cheap)

make sure its 2 piece as it makes life much easier

having had steel and carbon, id say my carbon front is much eaier to live with, mine bolts on to panels coming off the a panels and pins poking out of the bottom where the old rubber mounts used to be

I've got a one piece steel flip front on mine.
It lines up beautifully and it does not get in the way of any engine work. In fact a lot of jobs are made much simpler - imagine working on your suspension without the fiddling under wheel arches while lying up side down.
And of course you can take the whole thing off in seconds and get even more room to work.
The best mod I've made to my Mini so far anyway
