ive always wondered about these, i really like the idea, but have no idea where they fit and how good they are. i would be very interested to hear if anybody has fitted one. everyone seems to go for the quickshift, but not these. any reason?

I run one with a quickshift too.

Personally I find it absolutly fantastic. However (ther's always a downside isn't there) with both fitted all that happend was the whole gear selector moved loads on its rubber mountings and it was no better than before. To cure this I made some nylon mounts, and now it great. But my engine's solid mounted so the selector dosen't need to move.

I've just bought another mini and I'd be tempted to fit one to it but without the quickshift for road use.

It's a funny little gadget that slips onto the bottom selector rod and has two spring legs which locate around the upper rod. As you move the gear stick left and right you rotate the bottom rod, actually it's impossible to decribe.

i like them and I'd say buy one, if you do and don't like it I'll buy it off you.

I'f your comming to the RR day you can always have afiddle with mine (be a bit late then though, you might have bought it)

so it goes into the changing mech as opposed to the gearbox itself?

If it's the same as the minispares one then yes, it attaches to the selectorrods.

I'm not sure I'll let anyone touch my gear stick btw.

How tough to thease things make the lever? and is it possible to screw up when fitting such that the rods are about an inch shorter than they should be??

I didnt fit it, but attempted to fit the gear lever asembly back onto the car only to notice that its way to short to reach the engine properly.. and its so stuf you just bend the rubber mounts ratehr than change gear.

How did you mansge to shorten the selector rods?

All fitting involves is removing one nut and bot, knocking out a roll pin slipping the thing on and then putting the roll pin and nut and bolt back.

Then all you need to do is stick the car in third gear and thghten the gizmo onto the bottom rod and hey presto, jobs a good one.

I agree about the rubber mounts though. Fitting new or uprated ones would be advised.

Went to minisport, How come though, when you go to buy just one or two gaskets and a couple of bushes it adds up to 50quid!

Couldnt afford one on this weeks wage anyway. Now that ive found out that my gearbox doenst need changing and it was just the turbo oil pipe, it was a pointless journey anyway!

I got uprated engine mouints for everything. Already my subframe is mounted on really decent mounts, i got the stabiliser ones, even the bump stops etc. I couldnt see any of the gear selector ones though, did u just modify some stabiliser bushes or something? I think i will do the same.
