How the hell are you suposed to launch a turbo mini? I had big problems getting it of the line at avon. It bogged down, then when the turbo cut in it just spun the wheels, and second was wheel spin aswell. It only started pullling in 3rd.............

or, if I gave it more welly on the line it just spun the wheels straight away. Its all on or off.

I spoke to a coulpe of guys who run low boost off the line and then wind it up down the strip, maybe thats the key, or do I need some better tires? Or just more practice?

Anyone got any tips?

Cheers, Kev

Its only a bit of metal. If it blows it blows!

A good 60ft time is a key to a good quarter mile time, so minimising wheelspin in the lower gears is what putting a good time together is all about. Loads of power in the lower gears doesn't really help matters, it is only when you are getting into the top end of 2nd gear and into 3rd gear that you then need the big power to shove what is effectively a flat fronted car through the air.

try tuning for more power off boost ,things that would help with this ,are correct timing off boost ,you may find you need a lot more timing off boost than you may expect ,especially with a 280 and up cam and a low cr.
getting the needle right off boost as well as on , running a softer cam , and runnig it a bit advanced which may give you less bhp .but a fatter toque curve ,so letting you get off the line without boost and still not bogging.a lower diff would help as well ,as long as your not over revving at the top end of the track.
hope that helps

I am never flat in first gear.

However, when my engine was really peaky, it was iimpossible to get off the line. All or nothing as you describe. I cured thid by changing the cam. the Ph2 and 1.5s just didn't work.

Proven 200+bhp & Avon Park 05,06,07 Class D 3rd place

if it was easy we'd all be top places all the time, every one you speak to runs different as all cars are different. the only way to get good is to practice. and not have a 2.9 diff lol

Best 1/4 mile 13.2 seconds @116 mph
