Colin i though about using studs for my next one but havnt got round to it, are they through bolts on yours?

now, someone just design an assembly that weight around 4 kg complete!

Colin, just make sure that you have enough clearance between the bolt heads and the pressure plate for it release fully. NAS bolt heads are pretty thin so I think it will be OK.

I fitted M8 nuts on mine to lock the bolts and even with what looked like plenty of clearance, it would not release :$

So what thickness springs are you guys actually using.

Just had a quick check through my stock and all the AP springs seem to be 2.3/2.4mm thick.

Two of those is overkill for my 998T.

Did AP actually make any thinner than 2.3mm?

2.18mm smallest ive seen got 2 going onto this clutch here

i measure the brown springs (1275s)at 2.23mm. I also measure the light blue (genuine turbo) at 2.54mm

There is a green coded spring which was found in the 998s

It's a sound idea. Just depends how well it stands up to a lot of heat, differential expansion and double springs.

I wouldn't touch one with a shitty stick.

The ultralight pre verto flywheel I bought had stress risers too. Its the attention to detail that really make a product worth the money, but Johnspeed seem to forget the detail bit.

I doubt they have thotoughly tested this. I get the feeling that they have left so much out of it that with an AP RTS with 2 1275 springs and an engine with 200lbft might see the thing distort!

Alloy flywheels are hardly new. Any Ive seen or used, the steel insert distorts long before the actual flywheel.

rather that trying to get weight out of what already exists i think it would be wothwhile looking else where..
