Yeah, I know it's not great but it works. It's fitted to a car that's only worth around £500, unfortunately insurance insists I have thatcham approved security so I'm trying to get a bit more info to get some online quotes.

Christ knows, I can remember a rep coming round my Dads workshop in about 1991 selling these, the chances of locating any spares now have got to be zero to fuck all chance.....

Whats up with it mate?

Buy yourself something like one of these-

Fit it, and then you have got a make and model to supply to the ins company and keep them happy.......

Nothing up with it. I just need to know who makes it to maybe stand a chance of finding something close on the lists of immobilisers on the various websites I've tried. Found a couple that offer generic options like "Thatcham class 2" :)

That link sounds like a good plan - cheers.

Some dozy tart has bashed the subaru as well. I hate dealing with fecking car insurance companies :(

I'd personally be suprised if that device is Thatcham Cat 2 approved, from memory one of the clauses is that the immobiliser has to passive arm or in other words arm itself if you leave the ignition switched off for a length of time greater than 15secs. Obviously the system you have doesn't do this as if you leave the thingy plugged in it doesn't arm.

"Some dozy tart has bashed the subaru" - you wait till I tell Ruth you have been saying things about her................ *laughing* *laughing* *laughing* *happy* LOL!

I know, I'm just trying to cover myself for the bare minimum as it's unlikely I'm ever going to make a claim for that car. I looked at TPF&T and it's actually more expensive than fully comp.

LOL never thought of it like that *laughing* It was parked outside Ruth's friends house when a neighbour pulled out of their drive and their car door swung open and hit Ruth's car. The womans kids had been messing about with the door and not shut it properly. Bloody kids - who'd have 'em :)
