Hey everyone

I am facing a big problem i am going to rebuild my mini and i am stuck on which seats to choose.

Right this is the problem, i bought a cobra lo back and my mrs says they are too narrow and she wont let me get a pair...next problem she dont want buckets cus of the pain in the ass on long journeys so i rigure that i need a recaro of some type. what does hippy in a mini have in his mini?

any ideas on what style i should go for? dont want them to look to big and kinda retro but comfy and hold you in on bends!!!

any suggestions???????

starting a full rebuild....is this a wise choice?

Please dont take offence at my previous remark, only joking.

Best go to one of the shows with your wife and have a look at what other people do.

Isn't there a mini do at the Haynes place near you soon?

you could try something like those cobra daytone seats, theyre like more normal recliners, with a hint of bucket seatness

otherwise how about the cobra cub, theyre like the low backs, but with out the supported sides (i have a plan for a pair of these)

i've got a set of metro turbo seats that have been modified to fit a mini. They're pretty nice. They are small but quite deep and have folding backs. They've been retrimmed in black leather and purple cloth.

As i'm just having 2 buckets and harnesses in my mini i'm selling them if you are interested.

Don't know how easy they would be to get hold of, but Mazda MX5 seats are compact and comfy, and they'll certainly hold you in - won't they Tom? *wink*

They seem to work, yes........*tongue*

And are nice and narrow to give you a good chance of getting them in a mini and still being able to reach the handbrake.

I would like to point out at this juncture that I do not own a hairdressers MX5! Although on driving one recently was very impressed with the handling. Thank you!

Really lovely fit as they are so narrow, they have speakers in the headrests too!

erm mine are just cobra classics! but ive noticed mine are a lot wider than my mates were. he bought his pair about a year after me and i cant get my arse in his! where mine fit lovely. i dunno if they changed the design or if they just made a thin batch!
as advised above best bet is to just try everything. most seats can be made to fit or if your after the classic bucket style like nic said theres the cobra cubs or the speedwell seats, which look pretty similar and dont have the big restrictive bucket to them. i think both are available from minispares.
steve

doh! why did i start messing with it!

IMO bucket seats aren't that comfy, and i had some bucket seats in mine before. I have just installed these today.

And the good thing about these are that they can flip forward (without hitting the roof), so if you want to have someone in the back you can do that.

My mate had a pair of suzuki swift gti seats in his mini, they are unbranded recaros and are so comfortable and very cheap.
