is a 12g1316 head campatable or better than a 12g940 for a turbo motor?

I believe this is the USA spec "smog" head? And is basically very similar to a 12G940.

From memory this is supposed to have quite a thick deck so could be a good base to work on?

The vizard yellow book is the place to check though.
