is there any befefit of me going to 1310 when i rebuild my engine?
is there a reason why there seems to be loads of 1293 turbos compared to 1310.

any help would be appreciated to help me make my decision.

I agree with mini1071s is worth just going out to 1310 if you are preparing to go more than the default 1293?

If you going to increase the cc you will have to machine more out of the head/ increase the dish in the pistons to keep the compression ratio the same as the 1293. So like mini1071s said if your going more than 1293 maybe its worth looking into 1330 or 1380 is more worth while your at it.

Personaly I am looking at 1330 turbo engine when its time for a rebuild. Though that is just my opinion.

well my advice is all depending on how many spare blocks you have kicking about as they are getting harder to get hold of now so i would go 1293 to start with as there are loads of decent pistons about then work your way up to 1380

mine is 1380 and will be untill the block is totaly shagged then ill move to a 1293.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

Hoggy is the smae thinking as me. If you have two/three spare blocks, then please yourself! If you only have one block, then personally, I'd stick to 1293. I really don't believe you'll see any measurable gain on those 17cc to justify shortening the usefull life of your block.

i going to stick with a 1293 rebuild at the moment then,
i have a few spare blocks lying around so i will rebuild one of those to a higher spec to be installed at a later date.

i've tried some of these. started with 1275 then 1310, then 1380 and now 1293

1380 was fine but the bores went oval and crushed the sides of the cast omega pistons, i can only assume due to block flex because of 15psi of boost

now 1293 and going faster than before and with more boost. there are plenty of ways to make a turbo engine go faster and bore size is only one.

personaly i would keep the bore size down to reduce bore flex. The increase in capacity gives minimal power gain, may be compairable to a boost increase of 1psi
