I tried out some new suspension components and settings at Avon this year and was losing 4 tenths in the first 60ft compared to last year and only ran 13.7, with wheelspin into every gear.
All theory says my new mods should have been better.
It seems from reading on here other people had trouble too, so how did your 60s compare to last year please?
Paul

I seriously doubt it!

Mine were 2.2, the best 60fts I've ever had. Grip was not a problem for me.

I also managed a 2.2...something 60ft in Alex's frog, with bog standard suspension, and Dunlop SP Sport road tyres.

So I'd agree that grip wasn't too much of an issue.......

Yip 60ft times were down by 0.25 on last year - but only managed 3 runs so no fiddling with suspension to tune in. Was running coil over fronts this year (hi-los and spax front last year)and new coil over rears compared to last year - I'm going to put them on a damper rig to understand the valving in them. Are you still using Protech Paul?

If Carling made Mini engines
it would probably be like this one!

i did 14.17sec on saturday and 14,22 on Sunday and had a 2.2sec 60ft and had no problems with grip, if anything grip was better than any other year by a long way, but then again i was using A032R tyres not the normal A008's

I tried rolling burnouts from in the water, tried out of the water, tried no burnout, nothing made any difference though. Odd as usually I do 2.0 or 2.1 60s every time but this year my best was 2.38.

The mods I made were new tubular bottom arms and tie bars= lower unsprung weight= better grip supposedly, and new top shock brackets which are 3/4" lower to increase droop which should be better.

I think possibly having that extra droop let more weight transfer to the back as the front of the car could lift more.

What do you think?

Soft always has worked best for me, but, this time I did hard, soft, medium all sorts....no difference still 4 tenths down.
Im doing test and tune at Pod in September Ill try the old shock mounts again.

leeds/wakefield.

i used to run as stiff as possible . as you know solid on the rear and full stiff up front [ the dampers that is] no snide sexual comments from you fenton.
on the odd occation i tried soft front dampers the 60fts were crap.
aas you already know you need to stop any rearward weight tranfere ,however small.

you need to be stiff all round, there i go again, lol.
