Ive got a brake servo from my n/a 1275, ive only just noticed that no many of you turbo lot use brake servo's. Is there any reason for this?

Was just wondering as ive got my servo but can sell it if its not really needed, would i need anything to convert to non servo assisted?

I have one fitted to my car. Reason being that non servo'd brakes certainly have their place, but in my opinion can give rise to a "heart-stopping moment" if say another car suddenly pulls out on you.

The servo brakes don't have any more stopping power but certainly feel more reassuring initially when you hit them.

I ditched mine to gain the space, and to be honest, i like the feel of the pedal. Its a lot more progressive.

If you dont have one, dont bother and save on the used space for a bigger intercooler

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

don't have one - I've had 2 fail on me, not nice. I put trust in my Kad 6pots - or 4pots (depends which I'm currently using) and extra long strong legs.

Thanks for the info guys! Space is one thing i do want though so i may look into ditching mine, what will i need then? A non servo master cylinder? Would i already have the mounting holes for the cylinder along the bulkhead member?

If you have a servo fitted and want to go non servo, you will need the master cylinder, yellow band type, the base/bracket (the top part of the engine steady on the bulkhead) for a non servo, a brake pedal for non servo, pedal box spring for the non servo, some brake pipes from the master cylinder that either reach the PRV where it is or move the PRV and use standard pipes ( must have one larger union on the master cylinder end) Clevis pin and split pin.

If you have these, then its a bolt on job. If you can, get some pipes made up for the master to PRV, be much easier
