I've used the metal staps that usually hold the plastic engine splash guard in place before - bolted to a couple of head studs.

Lifting eyes? Although personally I do not like using these as it means slackening off a cyl head stud nut to fit them........ what do you use instead then? |

I have a lift, and lifting eyes, but as I don't have a front end, I find it much quicker and easier to get a mate to help me lift it in. On 15th May, 2009 TurboDave said:

we walked away pretty quick (not sure is the engine was comming out, but still lol) |

i nearly always remove the head chuck in a couple of headbolts on the front threads and a bit of chain between, this tilts the engine in the same way the factory eyes did making install and removal easy

i have a rough copy i made of the rover lifting jig that uses the rocker studs. then we borrow the forklift from the farm and whip it out. it lifts it just the right angle to clear the diff from the bulkhead, subframe etc

At one time when I worked at a mini specialists we would on average "doom" 3 or 4 cars per week, now that there are not many left on the roads I sometimes do feel a bit guilty, although most of the ones we "doomed" really were well past it........ murderer! personally i use nylon rope and tie it tightly around the head, udner the thermostat lump under the manifold and around the lump at the other end. Tie it between the middle two plugs and lift at that point. The whole thing tightens up and lifts the engine out at the correct angle.
I've seen the future and tbh its Pie
