Seriously now..

I was chatting with a mate earler - he's tempted to buy an Imprezza, or an Evo, as he's wanted one for a long time...
He's reckonds he can't really justify it at the moment though, so want's to wait a few years. I'm saying if he doesn't get one now - it'll make even less sense in 3/5 years time!

I've also been seriously thinking - and have decided - to sell my FordFocus daily driver and buy the US-spec Legacy GT estate (2.5litre turbo JDM/US STi motor that isn't sold in the UK *wink* ) - once I find one of these already rare beasts with the - even rarer- manual transmission that is... *laughing*

Anyways - my thinking is that in 20+ years time, we'll be purchasing / driving round in crappy hybrid-petrol/electic slugs that do whopping economy (just as well given the projected fuel prices) and are about as exciting and fulfilling as a lettuce buttie, but without the bread. I'm thinking that our generation (us lot) are quite possibly the last that will be able to fully experience proper affordable petrol-powered FUN...

I'm certainly going to make the most of it - but what is YOUR thinking on what we'll be driving in 20+ years time????

I'd put money on the amount of cars/vehicles being driven around in 25years time that are not powered by petrol in any form being more than 20% of the total amount of cars on the road. Theres going to be a point, pobably closer than we realise and probably a long time before any reaction is started, where electric cars will be more cost effective than petrol cars (i think im right in saying that the problem at the moment is that suitably sized batteries are still insanely expensive??)

Solar car anyone?

Definatly right about utilising the FUN cars before the time has passed, still got a hankering for buying an rx7 in the next year or so.

I've seen the future and tbh its Pie

i cant wait for electronic cars to become the mainstream, the price of efficient motors and batterys(or hydrogen cells) will plummet and il be able to have an engine for my mini that produces 200ft/lb of torque from 1 rpm to 50,000rpm

turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

Yeh re using veg oil. Nip down your local chippy, get the oil off them for free, they usualy have to pay for it to be disposed of in the correct manor so wont mind you talking it, every one is happy

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

i did wonder what will become of my collection when petrol becomes banned, however im sure there will be an alternative created that will be ultra expensive but worth it for the tm reunion avon park weekend, where we break hips on the death dodgems

however im also sure that the new 'engines' will become finally fettled pieces of engineering, and also there will be tack available to bolt onto them that doesnt do anything
