At the minute i've got 3 options

1.) rebuild it myself
2.) replace the core (approx £260)
3.) get a recon'd unit from AET £320

Only thing with 3 is that fact i've ground the exhaust housing a shade for clearance (only on the stud lug that sticks out though) and altered the actuator tab so would they take that in exchange?

forgot to ask when i was on the phone.

At the minute i'm thinking of number 2. dead easy to do, no exchange. just fit my compressor and turbine housings and i'm done.

whats the benefit of 3 over 2?

When I sent stuff off to AET - I sent them JUST the core.
If you can buy a BRAND NEW garrett core for 260 notes, I'd go that route however...

go for option 2 mate, as long as there is no major cracks in the exhaust housing around the wastegate flap

i think with the recon option they don't tend to re-use the exhaust housings on the T2 frame sized turbo's due to the cracking that normally occurs, so you might get away with it, or you might have to buy a new exhaust housing (£100 i think when we looked many months ago)

the exhaust housing is fairly well cracked.

unsure if the core is genuine garrett or not to be honest. best check. it is new though.
