hi, will be building my turbo engine very soon (starting in the next month or so)
was wondering what people think of this spec, i know it isnt concorde but it is a start. i have a very very tight budget...

low milage non mg metro block, standard pistons, standard crank with centre strap, uprated oil pump, duplex timing
big valve head, ported and polished.
t2 turbo with home made adaptor plate
standard low mailage metro gearbox, tran-x 4 pin diff and 1:1drops
13 row oil cooler
maybe an rs turbo intercooler (if i can afford the hoses)

the block has deeper dish pistons compared to the mg blocks, i think the mg ones had a slightly higher cr?
also the head has been slightly skimmed, i think 20 thou? was wondering if when i start the engine i will see the head come through the bonet?! i really cant afford a low cr one so that is what it will have to be for now.
also, im still unsure about the camshaft, its between a na non mg cam, a minisport mild road, minisport fast road or na mg metro cam?(if i can find one). has anyone tried minisport cams? my dad and myself are more used to na engines, this is a first. im a student so really need a cheap cam so 70 quid is out of my rech at the moment (phase 2), am rebuilding the whole car not just the engine*indifferent* any advise would be apreciated, thanks

oh, and does anybody have any idea what power this spec would give if put together well? was hoping for plenty of torque and at least 100 bhp? guess the engine will run at 4 psi to start with, obviously nobody can tell until its on the rollers, but was hoping to fit adjustable boost to about 8-10 psi. what improvement in power would this give? would an engine of my spec be likely to cope with it or will it probably go bang?i know its hard to tell until the car has been on the rollers, but is that range about right? thanks again

NA MG Metro cam is the one to use if on a budget, don't bother with the conventional fast road cams as to be honest they won't work well with the turbo.

Other than that sounds a reasonable starter spec.

8-10psi sounds a bit optimistic without any work to lower the compression. This should be your main priority to be honest.

Remember that a standard Metro turbo engine is 94bhp, so it won't take much over standard to produce 100bhp if that is what you want.

Resident Cylinder Head Modifier

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

if your on a budget

IMO ditch the oil cooler for a smaller one 6 row

mg N/A cam perfect!

open the chambers out on the combustion chambers to get the compression ratio down to the mid eights if poss!

this to geather with a good intercooler is a MUST!

forget the minisport cams, reprofiled as they are junk! IMHO

sorry minisport

the steel backed hoborn eaton pump is more than up to the job.

MAT, mini williams has proved this

this togeater with 12 psi of Boost should make 130bhp+ if set up correctley!

have fun!
