Choke spindle on carb

Im fixing an old NA carb, a hiff44, and i need to put the choke cable bracket back on.

the spindle that comes out of the carb, the like threaded flat gold hing spins round freely. does it matter if its 180degrees out??

Is there any way to tell which is the right way round?
