Somewhere around Swindon

141,2 Bannanas and 157 curly wurleys at 12pounds of boost

had a few issues and run out of time on my session

the 8psi 1 year old actuator would not hold boost over 6psi so had to bleed up to 12 .... not ideal

so a new actuator is on the cards

and the trailer spat a wheel off on the way home

Well done mate glad you got it sorted, and pleased for you that the initial smoking problem was a relatively easy fix and nothing that major!

For the actuator, look on ebay for a sierra cosworth 4x4 one, the cossie boys all change them for upgraded ones so they are dirt cheap, and give around the 10psi mark depending on how much preload you wind on. They are a direct fit onto a mini type T3.

my graph

will need to get back to sre and finish the mapping as i did not book in the car long enough and it drops power to early at 6200,
have to say thou i am happy with the service that Neil Slark provided, a very accomadating chap who was very interested in the engines welfare and was very carefull in how he treated my car and he did not call me a wanker and slam the phone down .... bonus lol
SRE will be in the recommended thread soon

I've looked at Ebay for these, but I don't know what to look for.. Do you know which ones?
This:

Or posibly this:

What does -31 mean?

I have often wondered myself what the -31 means, no one has ever been able to explain it properly.

The -31 however is an upgrade for the Cosworth boys from the standard item, so I am guessing it must somehow be superior to the standard item. The standard Sierra Cosworth actuator is good for around 10psi on the Sierras.
Mine cost about £8 if I remember rightly?

i think i vaguely remember that the suffix eg -31 ,relates to inches of mercury in boost ,so 31 would be around 15 ...but this may well be total drivel and tosh.

By jove I think he has got it!

Just having a quick Goooooogle shows the conversion factor from PSI to In Hg to be 2.037, therefore 31 In Hg equals a shade over 15psi!

Good stuff Robert!

Vegard, as I said before, leave the cossie boys to their -31's, they always seem to go for good money, go for the standard ones that they don't want any more!
