Dave, do the squirters have a built in valve which starts to open at a predeterminated pressure - or do they squirt oil all the time? The Turbo oil pumps cope with the higher oil demand?

Harry, there is an integral valve - it opens at around 15psi i recall...
I've not had a problem with running these - I'm now on the avonbar pump (that is just brilliant). I do 'swage' the tips of the nozzles however, to generate a 'spray' rather than a jet (and to restrict the flow a little).

For ease of fitting, make sure you get the ones that look like this, rather than the 'square' bodied ones... All you need to do with these is remove the 'tang' with a pair of pliers (the weld is quite brittle and easilly removed) and then you can spin the tang round to wherever suits, then tack weld it in place!

Finally, you MUST use heat when bending the nozzle - they are very brittle when new...

Were the pistons different in the cooper block?

Have you run piston cooling jets on the std oil pump?

pistons were no different, but the block visibly was... Basically the height from the deck to bottom of the bore was around 3mm longer on the later block than the earlier ones...

I've used these with a 'OE' Holburn Eaton pump (the one with the X on the cover), the minispares pump, and finally the Fantastic Avonbar pump. No problems at all - apart from an unrelated issue with the crappy minispares pump!
