I have to resit one of my modules this year, my fault completely as I didnt do a whole coursework which later turned out to be worth 40%, woops wont make that error again!

Anyway to the point,

The resit isnt too bad, however some of the wording on the questions confuses me.

This is a basic small 3 mark description type question, which is:

Dr Gayed said:

Consider an air compressor operating on a steady – flow process. How would you compare the volume flow rates of the air at the compressor inlet and exit?

I cant really see what he is asking to be honest... Sadly the lecturer who wrote it is not around for me to ask... So now I am left guessing as to what he atually wants,

I dont suppose anyone has any ideas on what he means, or am I being stupid and tired and missing the point completly!?

Cheers Guys

Dan

It is operating in a steady process, so for example it is charging up its tank.
The volumetric flow will be less at the outlet of the compressor than the inlet as the pressure at the outlet is higher than the pressure at the inlet. However, the mass flow rate remains the same.
