what do you guys think about this:

i am thinking of building an intake manifold but i will make the runners longer than normal (about 4-5 inches) so that the carb will sit further away from the turbo reducing heat transfere to the carb.........

do you think the longer runners will cause any power or drivability issues.

Does seem like a lot of effort!
I can't think of any problem with the theory however - but if you are going to go to this extreme, you might want to consider making the runners tapered...

You'll still run into clearnace problems around the exhaust manifold of course!

errr there are better was to solve ambient heat transfer, such as lagging and sheilding.

Are you having massive heat transfer problems at the moment?

I think you need to use the proper metro turbo manifold inorder to clear the turbo...

I think I have a spare or 5 at home... if ya need one.

Well,

They flow nearly as well as the 'nat asp' MG Metro, despite their appearances.
For Mixture distribution however, the stock 'turbo' manifold is hard to beat. There is no 'favouring' of any ports, which gives a more even (or as good as can be achieved with a carb'd A-Series) mixture distribution. This is why the 'very best' A-Series are usually found to run on 'split' webers...

Of course It might matter naff all on your average engine/tune, but the theory and the shape of the 'stock' turbo manifold compared the nat asp one is a good indicator in my opinion...
