So, what kind of MPG do you / did you get on a steady 70/75mph run - and general 'around town / spirited' driving?

Just curious...

My old Legacy Turbo used to do mid to high 20's mpg if you drove it gently on a run.

My worst ever consumption was in the low teens on a 100-odd mile B road thrash into Wales to go and watch a stage rally.

My dads Quattro turbo will quite happily do 9mpg if you drive it hard for any length of time.

Large-ish capacity turbo engines are very thirsty if driven hard!

Well, I've just put a deposit down on a 2005 Legacy GT Estate...
I wanted once since I first drove one the second week I moved to the USA, but couldn't justify the $29k. I've now found a 'fully loaded' one with 21K miles, a manual trans, six-year *surprised* Subaru gold waranty (transferable of course) for $18500 (the current owner is emigrating back to England - LOL - and is desperate to sell) and we hashed a deal that suits us both... He's a little miffed at dropping $10k in 15 months, but his loss and all that!!!!

Don't know how I'll cope with a 'daily driver' that does 14.0/14.1 sec 1/4's as standard, but I think a scanner/jammer is on the shopping list for Christmas!

That looks lovely Dave; Legacys are the only way to go. I'm currently saving for a 3.0 spec B, going for around 17k atm.

My 2.5 GX is comfy but just a bit slow, but it easy does 30mpg.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

Nope not a burberry cap, more like a flat cap and tweed. Looks lovely that though Dave. How they can make the Impreza so ugly and the Legacy so nice has always pussled me.

Very nice. If only the missus would realise how good they are we would have a turbo legacy instead of the non-turbo impreza she currently has. It's her car so I didn't have much say in the matter, and we can't afford 2 subarus at the moment. The sport is a very good car, but I was after something with a turbo *oh well*

I fitted an STi 5 lump in my old wagon, it was mapped my BR developments with the usual mods and running 1.4 bar. I got 280miles for 47 quid with VERY careful driving, i think it went through a tenner in about 18 miles when given some, er, royal love'n lol!*blush*

bad guy: What's the easy way?
Hannibal: That WAS the easy way.
