I have just found out that the old man really wants his garage back which currently has my track day mini sitting in it. There for I need to some how fit both of my mini's within a 5.24 m (17.7 feet) by 2.6m (8.5 feet) garage.

As we all know a mini is approximately 3.05 m long by 1.4m wide.

Has anyone got a cunning way on how I could some how fit both of these cars’s within the garage? (without making one of them into a shorty or extending the garage as this is not possible)

a LIL fishing village on the coast - Newcastle Upon Tyne

set of ramps up rear of mini 1 then drive mini 2 up em (so they look like they are shagging and making more fast baby turbo minis ) ?????
have they both got removable fronts ? if so remove em and put em on their roofs may get you around 12" more ? that and put the first mini in reverse it onto some ramps then drive second one in up a second set of ramps (long shot though)

Park one outside.

I have just drawn it in CAD.

You won't fit both in IMO.

What sort of height have you got? There's a nice 4 post lift in the Frost catalogue for just over a grand! Lift one up and park the other underneath.

I'd be surprised if you got them in to be honest. I assume it's only for storage and you don't plan to work on them in there.

Yes its just for storage quite happy to move one outside if I have to do any work.

As for parking outside that is what I am trying to avoid as my mpi cooper will be requiring a new front end soon and i dont want to keep it outside to let it rust for the 2nd time.

Having phoned the council for a lockup there is a 2 year waiting list, So if tom has draw it out in CAD it seems unlikely I will get the damn mini's to fit.

I also found this link which might be of intrest to some of you

Neil as for the lift i have just measured the garage and I have a height of 2.5 m which rules out the lift I think as a mini is about 1.3m approx. Why dont they make garages the right size in modern house's?

Have you thought about something like this?

We've been using these covers for years and found them to be excellent

Parking 2 minis end to end means one will stick out 925mm ish. The amount you would need to lift the front end of the second car up to lose this 925mm of length is 2.2metres.

Basically its not going to happen.

The main reason for front ends rusting is not parking the car outside, it has more to do with- (a) Not enough extra rustproofing
(b) Not enough underarch washing away of muck and shit
© Not re-rustproofing it each summer.

If you take the above three steps the panelwork should last a long time.

When I was a kid my dad bought a trailer tent which with the car was about 1m too long.So my old man built a timber framed extension and refitted the garage doors. It did not look too bad and although "only a tempory job" lasted about 20 years

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

i fitted 2 in the same size garage by doing the removable front trick, one high, one low. only thing is i had no engine but i reckon some suitable ramps would do it IMHO.

Would it be possible to take a picture of the ramps you used to fit the two cars in, just so I have an idea of what i need to get fabricated / buy?

i didnt, just jacked mine up on blocks ha ha!

put one in backwards with the front as high as possible, then drive the other one "under" it.

ah I get you hmm, bit of a problem with the engine in the way. Just had a measure i need to lift the car up over 1.5 meters to clear the bonnet of the car with another so that is just as unlikley as lifting the car 2 meters in the air to get it length ways.

However i only need to lift the rear of the car 1.1 meters to get it in side ways which is more possible. So now all i have to figure out the how bit *smiley*

Simple - you said the MPI needs a new front soon - and you are not using it so cut the front off - take the engine out and lie the subframe down the side of the garage *wink*

Did you have a good time in Egypt btw?

Nice idea however i was planning on using the mpi some of the time as i am trying to leave it until i can afford to do the job properly.

As for Egypt I had an brilliant time and would recomend anyone to go their, unless you have small kids as it would have been far too hot for them (52C when we traveled through the desert to one of the temples). I will give you a ring soon, as it would be nice to have a chat now thing are a lot less hectic.

chinlesswonder thanks for the link that would work the only question is how to keep the rear of the car a meter in the air whilst using them lol :)
