Hi,
I would need an advice. I have gearbox 22G1128 ( Cooper S MK II) in well condicioun (only 50.000km). I wonder if I should put it on my turbo engine or keep my std one- Mg Metro Turbo gearbox?
Is there a big gain to go for the 22G1128 gearbox?
your comments are welcome?
and what box do you run?

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

Ive been wondering what ratio's to run. Going for straight cut drops, 4 pin diff and helical box. Hope it will be strong enough for the power im hoping to achieve, 160ish.
Im looking for a good 0-60 and 1/4 times to start with.

my plans are straight cut drop gears too, but for next season because they cost more than one my (slovenian) month salary. even 4 pin diff are just my dreams for this year.
for now I am just looking what is better choice to go for gearbox from A+ or from A engine?
I will stay on 3,22 diff ratio (I do longer trips too, this year is plan to go on IMM2004)

On some gearbox casings the bearing retainer behind the diff pinion gear has 4 retaining bolts rather than 3. The ones with 4 tend to crack across the central web ( I know, mine did). So if one has 4 and one has 3 use the one with 3.

Otherwise (if they are both the same) I'd use the one in the best condition or with the best ratios.

Either way if it breaks you could always put the other one on.

i didn't think you could put an A gearbox onto an A+ block? or vice versa. could be wrong though.

You can as long as you use the right flywheel housing and drop gears. The bearing size is different.

I run std 3.2 diff with 10" wheels but I suffer on long journeys. So, I would like to try 2.9
