how do i find out if my head is unleaded? the one i have has came off an A+ 998 that had a servo, i have the complete engine & box & number if this helps

i thought servos were fitted to the a+ cars from 89 onward, the same time as the unleaded engines, i may be wrong, correct me if i am

i'm not on about the remote cooper servo's A+ ones

This link tells you which 998 A+ engines were unleaded.



I'm assuming that it is the original head, otherwise you need to get an exhaust valve out and check the colour of the valve seat. It should be a slightly coppery colour if it is unleaded. You can also usually see the machining around the seat insert.

Yes as above, whip an exhaust valve out then give the seat and area a good clean up with some emery cloth, if it is unleaded you will be able to see the insert in the head.
