just wondered what size systems people were running. driving back from mitp mine started to sound rather throaty. i have a 1 3/4 maniflow twin box system and i'm thinking its too restrictive and i've left my baffles on the m1 somewhere.

when you revved it before, the pipe would force the air out quite a bit behind the car.

playmini sounds likely if it is.

balls to the blower!!!

Most will recomend the maniflow. As far as im aware they are the only manufacturer to specificaly produce a back box for the turbo. It has a 2" bore

I have a Playmini on mine at the minute and the bore on that is 2" so i might stick with that when i sort any one of the turbo engines out and get round to building them nver mind fitting them. LOL

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

system

Mine has a 2 1/4 tail pipe, and i cut two inches off it including the rolled end. just a plain pipe.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

i ran a maniflow 2" system and it strangled the motor to death

a 6 foot swirl was seen at the back of the car on full boost

anyway i designed my own back box and here you have it below

straight through!!!!!!!

2" inlet 2.5" centre 3" exit

NOW! this does the trick, no middle box and its great sounding

sounds like a world war 2 spitfire *laughing**laughing*

This may be a daft question lol, but if the inlet into the box is only 2", what benefit does a 3" tailpipe have ?

not a daft question phil
I can see your reasoning on this one,

like it will only flow to the smallest diameter (usually) YES!

this 2.5" internal and 3.5" exit stops the swirling effect as the progressive larger diameter aids flow on high boost,

“there is no sound deadening material in the box”!

in a 2” system with the box baffled & sound deadening material encased, say a maniflow or playmini exhaust
these ehausts “creates eddies sapping flow” *wink*

I call this my taliban rocket launcher

the power diffrence between a 2" maniflow back box and this one
is STAGGERING! *wink*

And as you suggested so is the noise difference

LOL

Looks realy good though

N/A rather than turbo'd - running 2 1/4 straight through to 2 1/4 Ti bike silencer - fruity!

If Carling made Mini engines
it would probably be like this one!

Any ideas for an exhaust spec for my 998 turbo based on 8psi initially, i have a maniflow centre exit single silencer 1.75" system at the moment, cheers,
benross that exhaust looks really good to me, loud for a turbo i'm sure & heres me thinkin a turbo mini is quieter hehe!

Will an RC40 strangle a turbo engine if it's a single box only?

ive got a maniflow 2 box silencer on mine its all they had instock at the time i needed one that would fit me downpipe. think it 2 inch. its not noisey and i like that.

if anyones planning on doing track days i wouldnt get a exhaust thats to noisey as they might not let you on the track i know combe check exhaust dBs.*smiley*

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Sounds awesome ha ha, wouldnt there be a slight pressure drop if a larger tailpipe is used or is this negligible, i'm sure someone ran with no boxes at all, just a pipe sticking out, wasnt too loud either.
