I know this question gets asked a lot but please bare with me.

If you have what’s is more or less a modified miglia/competition car with a highly modified engine, carbon fibre door’s, bonnet/front end, roll cage, roll bars etc, who you go to for insurance?

Adrian Flux and HCI etc and the usual suspects or is there such a thing as tack day car insurance which covers you for limited road use etc. I am just thinking places like Adrian Flux are going to charge a massive amount for a car, which will only travel about 500 miles a year maximum on the public roads.

Any one got any ideas?

Competition Car Insurance is who you want.

Have you moved, thought you lived in Crewe?

Will i have moved house but the car is still in Crewe for the time being as i cannot fit two minis into a modern garage DOH.

Thanks for the link, just reading through their site do they insure you if you only intend to use it for track days? And whats there service like (I am assuming you use them now or have done in the past for the TT ?)

We insure the TT for storage and transport, so not actually insured for events. However, a mate insures his Fiesta for road and hillclimb use. I've had no issues with them, and would recomend them.

I've just been quoted £214 for TPFT by HIC for my N/A MG Metro engined Sprite.

Sounds high compared to your £180. Did you haggle for that and have you got any NCB?

I wasn't allowed to use my NCB as it was on another car.

I had it on classic car insurance 3000 mile limit.

Ive been with them for 3 years so I think they made it cheaper, it used to be about £350ish a few years back.

Near Lincoln

HIC trackday cover isnt actually worth anything if you read the small print. or it wasnt last time i read it.

Basically no other cars on track etc etc.

I agree with TD/Iain about the trackdy cover, it isn't really worth a wank.

However my track car is insured for road use with them, less than 4k miles per year, agreed value, 2 named drivers, £310 last year.

re: track day cover ...... there are very few accidents on the track , most of them are within 400yds of the enterance to the track ..it is amazing how a car can come off the road so close to the enterance !! i am surprised that car ins companies say no cover within 5 miles of any track ..lol

Everyone knows that instructions only have to be read if the thing doesn't work....

Mine does cover me for hillclimbs as I am the only other car on the track, though is as stated useless for track days.

Is that with HIC? If so do you have to pay extra for it?

I phoned them up and specifally asked if Hillclimbing was covered and I was told it's not as it counts as motorsport, where track days such as the Mini day at Coombe are covered as they are non competative. :(
