I need to know the thickness of the 'backplate' in the area as shown on this link:
To the nearest mm will do. Can you also identify which type it is you're measuring (i'd like to have the thickness of both confirmed)

Thanks fellas!!!

I have a cad file of the backplate if any help Dave!

If Carling made Mini engines

Are these kits safe for turbo engines ?? Chains look safer!

First of all, cam drives in a turbo lives a comfortable life. A high rpm N/A engine is MUCH harder on valve and cam stuff.
Chain setups are definately stronger, but not too sure about safer.

One month ago, a cam follower buggered itself and jammed the cam solid. What happened was that the belt drive shat itself. This meant that the engine continued to rotate even if the cam didn't What would've happened if this was a chain setup, I dare not think.
