Trying to find out what people think of the T2 vs T3. I have a T3 set up currently and find it a bit laggy. I don't want max BHP, maybe 130-140 so T2 is plenty big enough.

Will I be disapointed with the lag of a T2 with mappable ignition?

I want to get the throttle control something like I had with normally aspirated.

Cheers for any input,

Nick.

What lag????

Is the answer to someone asking how much lag you get with a T2 of the R5GT spec...
Of course if you put a Silvia T2 on there - it'd be worse than the metro T3!

Ben - nic was a 13.6 ; and that's not a stock T2.

Our man wants 130-ish hp, which is well in the capabilities of a bog-standard Renault 5 GT spec unit IMO.

hehe 13.5 actually!!

isnt sumpnut running the silvia t2? he had the t3 before and says its much much better than that

does cam choice alter lag too/or give a similar effect?

i changed cams this year and my car didnt feel the same as last year, where it felt as if the turbo came on to boost from something stupid like 1500rpm

its a mirage jobbie, the second one they do, seems to be good up to 18psi, im not sure if there is much gain to be had at 20.

1st being std renault 5
2nd has an uprated compressor
3rd has an uprated turbine and compressor

hehehe my dog is snoring

I've got a R5GT spec T2. Looking for max driveability and minimum/no lag.

Am I chasing the impossible??

What compression ratio can I get away with running if I go with an intercooler and I guess max 14psi boost?

if your looking for around 130bhp then you may as well stay with the std turbo cam or the mg cam as you may feel the phase 2 at the bottom end, also its a few quid saved.

Nics turbo is an all T2 based unit that has been played around with. The other unit i do is a T2 core and turbine with a modified T25 compressor and housing. Both these units are mapped to suit the a series at around 1300cc, revving to around 7000k.

Well pointed out!!!! lol These babies sure can rev !!! sorry guys that should have been rpm instead of k.

Renault 5 spec T2 Turbo £385 outright (inc actuator)

MAT2S1 hybrid T2 Turbo (110-140 BHP) £450 outright
110-140HP, High flow T2 compressor wheel, reprofiled T2 compressor housing, 360 degree thrust bearing and total seal piston ring. Watercooled bearing housing.

Nic runs above one.

MAT25S2 hybrid T25 Turbo (180-190 BHP) £575 outright

170/180+HP, High flow T25 compressor wheel, T25 compressor housing, T25 watercooled modified bearing housing, 360 degree thrust bearing, total seal turbine piston ring.

Both units are Garrett T2 hybrids in the style of the Renault 5. Units come with oil feed adaptor (-4) and the oil drain will be flanged (can get normal oil drain set up, but i think flanged easier to fabricate something for). Actuators are not included. Gaskets are included in the price of hybrid.
