First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

this has puzzled me for a while, but how to i read them?

when i look all i see is a load of wobbly ovals!!!

ok so here is one of mini 1071s's:

righto, so im guessing the pressure ratio how much bar im running

is the air flow how much the exhaust gas the engine is putting out?

and that dotted line is ultimate efficiency????

or is that completely wrong, please can someone help me learn something new, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease

The hard bit is working out your airflow.

from the info given on that site, 1 lb/min is approx 10bananas, so if im wanting a 140 bananas, my engine would be giving 14 ish lb/min?

buts whats a more exact way?
(i.e taking engine capacity, volumetric efficiency, temp, pressure/boost, PV=nRT and then rpm)

The easy (and exact) way is to plug the numbers into an excel spreadsheet that you developed for such a job.

Go and read your thermodynamics books is my advice - that's how I generated my spreadsheet (you are doing an engineering degree aren't you)?

But - "1 lb/min is approx 10bananas" is about right for an 85% efficiency. Of course this tells you jack shit about anything other than FULL boost at FULL rpms (ie peak power).

And no - I'm not about to post up my excel sheet for peeps to work some CTRL+C CTRL+V magic and have it turn into their own magical creation despite not having a clue what the number are or what they mean!!! :)

Lock the sheet LOL!

Give me any locked excel file - and I'll unlock it for you. Easy when you know how. *wink*

hmm, even if you lock the VB code too? Its possible to make all the code VB, and they are password protected.

I did as Dave suggests and produced a spreadsheet, but there is an easier way:
