62horses at the wheels and counting

Mine hit 61hp at 5000
Peaked at 62 at 5500 and stayed level upto 6000.

Real uptake in hp at 3000 and another cracking jump at 4000.

Good power right through the range *smiley*

mine did 86 at 6750 1293 mbe built. power curve is well flat chuffed to bits. mike set it up the week before and it did 82 ! even he was suprised. also don't know how genuine it is but i have been told the rollers under read by approx 10 %.

Its an n/a 1293 296 cam 45 weber built by mbe years ago and raced successfully by Mike himself, its been stood for 6 years upto me getting at christmas and was set up 5 days before the shootout. i'm well chuffed

Mine did 114 at the wheels with 17 psi of boost, engine is suffering a few teething probs. It let another head gasket go at york at 10psi. The previous lump with a higher C/R would happily run 22psi. I suspect the block is warped even though both head and block where refaced in the winter rebuild. a new block has been sourced so that will be rebored and prepped. A bit of a pisser on the hole.

A new intercooler is at the top of the list after curing this head gasket problem, the after intercooler temps are way too high..

this car will be knocking at a genuine 200 bhp this summer..

Still going on the 30% transmission loss rule 163bhp is a good basis to work on.

Betwix Harrogate and York

I got 97 at the wheels at 6000. It was still going up though and peak power is usually around 6200.

I did a graph of torque and it has 90 to 95 all the way from 3000rpm up to 6000. I'm not sure I believe this as the turbo has hardly begun spinning at 3000.

Still it went well enough at york, so no complaints.

48bhp @ 5500. A little disapointed with this I was expecting at least 55bhp. The engine should peak around 6500 so I think there is more to come with some setup. Its a NA 1030 with a 1300 head and 276 cam btw.

I got the mappable ingnition on this weekend so there is no excuse not to get it setup properly now.....

Well after much messing about and another visit to MBE I got 95 at the wheels but she is holding that from 6800 rpm to 8000 rpm so I'm pretty happy with that. Also because of the 3d ignition system she's making lots more low and mid range power than she ever has before.

The engine is an N/A 1380 with all the bells and whistles.

Dave.

Got 67bhp at the wheels at 5500rpm, runs really smooth from the word go, starting to roll off after 5500rpm. Certainly more to come once its got some miles on it, would probably help if the exhaust wasn't leaking as well.

The spec is - n/a 1380cc, omega 73.5mm pistons, duplex timing gear, kent MD276 camshaft with matching double valve springs, MED stage 2 head, howley inlet, and HIF44 with BDK needle.

Just need to find a mint bodyshell to put it in now!!

You've already quoted that on your homepage:

yes...a conservative estimate, but with people banding around higher figures for 'wheels to flywheel' I expect it could be higher...
I always felt it important to underestimate/ be conservative when it comes to bhp, 0-60 times etc...
Dont knock yourself out its not that important really,(just interested in other peoples views) I am more interested in how it drives and how smooth the power is rather than 'chasing that elusive 5bhp, to beat a friends power output.....
Cheers

bye bye GTI , yes mate that's a good ponit, and if that's what your after then that's fine, but on the other hand if your after as much power as you can get with the set up you have then that's fine to :)

Absolutely

If everyone were the same, it would be a boring world! (horses for courses and all that!)

And with 200bhp I'm sure your life is FAR from boring...

Many thanks
