Had the car tuned yesterday, went out for a spin flat out in 1st to get up a 1 in 10 ish hill......
Has a tinker round don't really want to alter fueling or timing as it's just been set.
Pull the damper out, plenty of oil in the tube but the tube came up every time I pulled the damper out.
So thought may as well have a go with another damper I had lying around(same part number)but a bit looser fit

Car flys along now*smiley*

What oil is in the dash pot? sounds like it's a bit too viscous.

20/50 but I did a search of old posts and some peeps use ep90 gearbox oil.

Now I know what it is, will have a play about and see what works best, may as well do the double spring trick whilst at it

Got dot 4 brake and clutch fluid in now.......

Done a google search and if you have an air fuel ratio meter(mines not turned up yet),you check for a sudden lean on full throttle acceleration,if you get one the oil isn't thick enough.most seam to be using 20 or 30 grade fork oil......some even change from winter to summer

I've known people to use 3 in 1 and it seems to be ok, however as I'm pretentious I use SU damper oil:

Mine was terrible with 20/50, have used 3 in 1 for some time now and it's miles better.
