Still got the standard plastic one on mine,I have done a search and found to use a steel one between tank and pump.

So I take it you do away with the one under the bonnet between fuel reg and carb ?

If you put one before the pump there is no need for one after.

However, apart from the standard mechanical pump, you should always fit a filter before the pump or it could degrade very quickly. Especially a high pressure roller vane pump.

Dangerous try a filter from a VW Polo 1995, it is a metal encased filter with 8mm tails each end, a decent size too.

I personally am running the standard MPI filter under the car, and then another one between the reg and the carb, overkill maybe!

What so you are using 2 X VW Polo 1995 filters.

I don't trust that plastic one under the bonnet (so want to change it)and don't have one at the back...But am running of a brand new fuel cell and all the fuel is filtered when mix it with the lead/octane boost stuff.

I use 1 x Late MPI mini filter in the standard place on the rear subframe

and then

1 x VW Polo filter mounted under the scuttle, plumbed between regulator and carb.
