starting to get a bit edgey with my new engine, and thinking I should have uprated some of the components in my bottom end to enable to to start reving it into much higher rpm's. Now we all know rev are what kills engines but what kinda things should I be looing at changing to allow say a 7.5k or 8k rev limit. atm its pretty standard (all fresh and new tho).

Hi Anton - as an example and for information only, I ran my 1380 5 port to 8.2k, bottom end was wedged cross drilled nitrided crank with a steel main cap, innocenti rods - though A+ seem trouble free as well, ARP bolts, u/light flywheel/backplate - and the prpoer Vanderval bearings. The crank and rods live on and are now in K motor and running to 8.7K - with a steel 4 bolt main. If Carling made Mini engines

balance is key to longer life high revving engines, this is why i spent £150 getting a full rotating balance on my engine which will also be revving upto (and probably over) 8,000rpm I've seen the future and tbh its Pie

This sounds very interesting, I'd love to see some pics of this 4 bolt main that ties in the sides of the block etc, that was a thought I had some time ago after messing around with Pug engines as these have cross bolted main caps.

I'll do that after I have the engine running and I know it works. Everyone on here shares their trials, successes and failures! It sounds damn impressive Pete, show off for once! If it doesn't work then at least you had the guts to try!
