been busy this weekend, fitted new rear subby and dropped the engine in! got a few things left to do, bleed brakes, connect gear linkage, bleed clutch, fit rest of exhaust (how much of a pain in the arse is the downpipe clamp!) wire in fuel pump, adjust rear hi-lo's and sort out adjustable shocks.

think i'm gonna be busy the next few nights!

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

i just use hammerite stuff i think it is. A white paste anyway from most motor factors. Only a few quid.

Yeah tack, as in a small weld to hold the bolts from spinning, makes life simplier!

bugger. thought we'd done the clamp up tight enough but the downpipe can still move about a bit. used the trolley jack technique to hold it up too! might see if i got a locking tab i can use somewhere for the clamp cos i dont have a welder and it seems impossible to get at both sides of the clamp to tighten it.

It might be that the clamp is tight but you havent relieved it enough so it clamps properly. Makes all the difference. The first one i did was really crap and blew everywhere, the next one though went perfect as i just took my time to get the clamp to fit perfect off the car around the downpipe.

Yeah locking tabs should work, certainly a lot easier to do if you only have to worry about one side of the bolt!!
